Mattie Britt Obituary

Mattie T. Britt BOYKINS - Mattie Leigh Tillery Britt, 91, died June 3, 2010 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. She was born in Bertie County, North Carolina, the last of 10 children of the late James Andrew and Utelia Jernigan Tillery and was predeceased by a son, Tony Britt. Mrs. Britt was retired from Aster Nut Company and cared for the elderly. Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Andrea "Diddle" Bryant (Davis) of Newsoms, Janet Davis of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Anita Gay of Emporia; two sons, Leslie H. Britt of Severn, N.C., and Ronald Britt (Gail) of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Terrie, Tammi, Shannon, Brandi, Angie, Kevin, and Keith; six great-grandchildren, Ben, Chase, Matthew, Steven, Joshua, and Dillon; and a great-granddaughter to be born, Alexis Grace. The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 6, in the Boykins Chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Darwin Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Pendleton, N.C., town cemetery.
