Maylea Beasley Obituary

Maylea was beloved by many as a daughter, sister, family member, and friend. She was a shining light; emitting a zest and exuberance for life that was contagious to anyone that had the pleasure of meeting her. Maylea was beautiful inside and out, kind-hearted, and genuine in spirit. Her smile lit up the room and her infectious sense of humor always brightened everyone's day. She loved sea turtles and her favorite color was purple.

Maylea was a gifted athlete and loved playing volleyball; culminating with her adventures on the Coastal Travel Volleyball team, and as a proud member of the First Colonial High School Lady Patriots Team. She was a member of the VHSL HS All Tournament Team her junior year. Maylea was named to the 2019 VHSL 5A All-State Second Team her senior year; an incredible achievement. She excelled in school as a student in the Legal Studies Academy at First Colonial. Maylea was also a Lifetime Girl Scout of Troop 475, and a Girl Scout Gold Awardee. She had a passion for volunteer service and giving back to the community as witnessed by her numerous community involvement projects through school, church and scouting. Maylea was a lifelong member of Baylake United Methodist Church, dedicating time over the years to vacation bible school, Camp Gotcha, serving the homeless and preparing food baskets for the holidays for those in need.

In June 2020, Maylea graduated from the Legal Studies Academy at First Colonial High School and was so excited to begin the next chapter of her life as a student at James Madison University. Unfortunately, her journey was tragically cut short by an accident. Maylea went home to be with our heavenly father on November 14, 2020. Selfless even in death, Maylea was an organ donor, and her gift is already saving others. She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, her parents Brock and Shari, her sister Ana Katrina, her grandparents Betty Beasley, Linda Rudersdorf, Ron and Irene Rudersdorf, her Aunts Staci Rudersdorf and Betsy Zolper, her Uncles Ryan Rudersdorf and John Zolper and her cousins J.J. Zolper, LIz Zolper, Thomas Zolper, Calee Rudersdorf and Carl Rudersdorf and host of relatives and friends. In lieu of a funeral, a Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, December 5th for family and friends to gather and share precious memories.

The family would like to thank all of their friends, family, First Colonial HS Family, Troop 475 and Girl Scouts of Colonial Coast, and JMU Community for their love, support and prayers.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up as a tribute to honor Maylea through two of her favorite organizations; First Colonial Volleyball Team and the Girl Scouts of Colonial Coast Council. All donations will be distributed by the Beasley family in honor of our sweet Maylea.

Maylea was always a great friend to talk to and all around a positive spirit to many people. She was always smiling and had touched lives of many people. She will forever be in my heart, and a friend I'll never forget.

Maylea was a dream student. Her warmth and sweet demeanor was infectious. A beautiful person in every way. Her life was so tragically taken away, but her light will always shine on. God Bless the Beasley family and I pray for healing your broken hearts. Much love and sympathy, Michele

Maylea exemplified what is best about our youth. She was a bright, beautiful, and generous soul who worked, played, and loved with every ounce of her being. Her loss is felt by everyone who was lucky enough to have known her. Her family, friends, and the world mourn what she was and what she had the potential to be. My deepest condolences to all.
