Nancy Wiedmaier Obituary

Nancy Wiedmaier passed away peacefully on June 10, 2021 surrounded by her family. She is predeceased by her husband, Dale Wiedmaier, and her mother and father, Louise and John Hagaman.

She is survived by her sons, JD, his wife, Sandi, and their children, Sam, Meredith, and Morgan; and George, his wife Allysia, and their children, Naomi and Hannah; and her sister, Jane Hagaman.

Nancy was born in North Carolina in 1939 and moved with her parents to Norfolk during World War II. She graduated from then Old Dominion College in 1959 and went on to a 32-year teaching career. She taught business subjects at Great Bridge High School for 6 years and later, after staying at home with her boys during their early years, taught at Norfolk Christian Schools (NCS) for 26 years. At NCS she was the business department head, led the accreditation committee, and rarely missed attending any of her sons' basketball games or cross country meets.

Nancy was a member of Great Bridge Baptist Church where she attended regularly. She particularly enjoyed Bible study classes and was instrumental in the formation of the Widow/Widowers Group. She loved to travel as much as she could with both family and friends. Her cross-country trip with JD's family was a highlight. She also enjoyed late night card games with Allysia, Jane and Sandi during many family get-togethers.

Nancy loved her personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She found life in serving others at NCS and her church. While we grieve her departure, we feel very confident that she now dances and laughs with loved ones and Jesus. Nancy Wiedmaier, beyond any shadow of a doubt, served exceptionally.

The family is inviting guests on June 25, 2021, at 9:30 am at Great Bridge Baptist Church, Chesapeake for a time of visitation. A celebration of her life will begin promptly at 10:30 am.

Oh, what childhood memories... Nancy and I grew up together and went all the way through school together. There are so many memories of that time together, and I will be there in spirit, if not in person. Love to Jane Ann, here sister, and her family. Lelia Cutler.

Mrs. Wiedmaier was my typing and computer applications teacher in high school. She was so kind and patient with us. She wrote a letter of recommendation for me to land my first secretarial job. Such a sweet soul. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this sad time for them, yet I am rejoicing that she is finally with JESUS! I know she is resting easy in his arms.

Oh what a wonderful, patient, and loving teacher Mrs. Wiedmier was! I will never forget her godly example and attitude towards her students! I witnessed it firsthand both in my typing class and computer class. I will always cherish the memories of her in my heart, and look forward to seeing her again one day in our forever heavenly home with our Lord and Savior!

We are praying for her family as they grieve, and so very sorry for your loss!
