Nellie Saunders Obituary

Nellie D. Saunders SUFFOLK - Nellie Felton Davis Saunders, 80, of Suffolk, passed away July 8, 2009. A native of Nansemond County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late George M. Davis Sr. and Annie Lee Felton Davis. She was also predeceased by her husband, Nathaniel Harold Saunders. Nell was a retired school teacher and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Whaleyville Chapter No. 137. She was also a member of Windsor Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the choir, taught Sunday school and helped in Bible school. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club of Liberty Spring Church. Nellie was devoted to her family. She is survived by her sisters, Alice D. Turner of Suffolk, her twin sister, Bettie D. Williams of Suffolk, Juanita D. Nystrom of Blacksburg and Mary D. Fisher of Williamsburg; and a brother, George M. Davis Jr. of Franklin. A funeral will be held Monday, July 13, at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, officiated by the Rev. Bryan Brooks and the Rev. Mary Henderson. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 12:30 to 2 p.m. for visitation prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Davis Scholarship Fund, c/o of Holy Neck Christian Church, 4400 Pineview Road, Suffolk, VA 23437, Attention: James Copeland.
