Orfilo G. Hofilena Sr.

Orfilo G. Hofilena Sr. CHESAPEAKE - Orfilo G. Hofilena Sr., 89, of Hunningdon Woods Blvd., passed away Jan. 28, 2009. Born in San Jose Mindoro, Philippines, he was a retired quality assurance inspector with Circuit Wise. He was a member of Saint Matthew's Catholic Church. Orfilo was a former prisoner of war and participated in the Bataan Death March. Orfilo is survived by his wife, Gloria A. Hofilena; two sons, Orfilo A. Hofilena Jr. and wife Divina of New Haven, Conn., and Ernesto A. Hofilena and wife Lourdes of Chesapeake; seven grandchildren, Melissa Lopez and husband Irco, Gloria Hofilena, Anthony Hofilena and wife Katherine, Eduardo Hofilena and Maria Hofilena, all of New Haven, Dr. Vanessa Hofilena and Ernest Hofilena Jr., both of Chesapeake; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Lopez and Brendan Lopez, both of New Haven; and six brothers and sisters, Lydia Garcia, Rodolfo Hofilena, Evelina Catalan, Francisco Hofilena, Aida Hofilena and Salvador Hofilena. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. with a wake at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Saint Matthew's Catholic Church by Father Joseph Facura.
