Rebecca Godfrey Obituary
Virginia Beach - Rebecca Ann Godfrey, age 69, passed away on January 13, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born May 29, 1945, in Leyland, West Virginia to Rudolph M. Godfrey and Helen D. Vaughn, she attended various schools throughout the United States while her father served in the navy. She ultimately graduated from North Kingstown High School in Providence, Rhode Island. After leaving home, she lived in Germany and North Carolina before resettling in the Tidewater area.
Early in life, Ann enjoyed being a girl scout. Professionally, she worked as a medical word transcriptionist and spent the majority of her career with Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. In her later years, Ann took comfort in her small, close-knit family while her son served in the Army. She embraced crochet, a clutch of close friends, and her toy dogs in the last few years of her life.
Survivors include her son, Gregory Green, his wife Donna, and four grandchildren: David, Joseph, Alexis and Lila.
A small memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the family's home.

Having just seen this I wanted to respond to the heartfelt messages left by friends of Becky's. She was a bright light for sure and though it's been many years since our high school days, my memories of our friendship then has always held a special place in my heart. She had the most infectious laugh and I can't remember a time where she wasn't smiling. She was so young to lose her battle and please know our prayers and thoughts are with all her family and friends. She will definitely be missed.

To the Godfrey Family
I was very sorry to hear of Becky's passing. I was in the same class, (1963,) as Becky at North Kingstown High School, Rhode Island. We just reconnected about six months before our 50th class reunion. The committee of which I am a part was so happy to have found her. I will always remember her beautiful smile and upbeat personality. My deepest sympathy on your loss.
