Robert Dillon Obituary

Robert A. Dillon VIRGINIA BEACH - Robert Angelo Dillon, 64, beloved husband, father, grandfather and godfather, died Nov. 4, 2008, during a recent hospitalization. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cheryl, and was blessed in his life with two children, Howard and Billy (belated), daughter-in-law, Wendi, and granddaughter Megan. He was also honored to be godfather to Paul and Abby Laufer. He is survived by his mother, Louise Dillon; brother, John Dillon; several nieces and a nephew. Bob was retired from the United States Postal Service after 40 years of service. A native of Philadelphia, he called Virginia his home for the last 37 years. He will be remembered and sorely missed by his family and friends for the same integrity and courage with which he faced his many illnesses. In his marriage, with his family and friends, and in his everyday life he approached life with unwavering strength and abiding faith, unflinching honesty and a deep appreciation for laughter, the Phillies, and the simple joys that life had to offer. He provided his loved ones with an example of how life should be lived and leaves them with the enduring legacy of a man of true character, even in the face of adversity. A memorial service will be held Sunday at Community United Methodist Church, 1072 Old Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Milton Marks. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of his son Billy can be sent to the Youth Fellowship of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Chesapeake. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
