Robert Old Obituary

Robert "Bob" Edward Old, Sr., 91, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on July 14, 2022. He was born on August 31, 1930 to the late George Dupont Old and Esther Diebler Old.

Bob was an Army veteran, who served in the Korean War. During his time in the service, he participated as a boxer in the Armed Forces Olympics, losing only in the final round. Bob retired from State Farm after a 35-year career in the insurance business serving the community of Great Bridge where he called home for his entire life. He was an avid sports fan and member of Norfolk Sports Club for many years. He continued to play competitive softball until his eighties. Bob's daily routine was always centered around what sporting events were televised. Until his health recently declined, Bob continued to enjoy the occasional golf cart ride followed by some chipping and putting. He was a charter member of Great Bridge Baptist Church.

Bob is survived by his wife, Clotile "Clo" Allen Old; daughter, Robin Denise Old; son Robert "Beaver" Edward Old, Jr. (Addie); stepdaughter, Amy Harrell Harris (Mark); sister, Vivian Old Parker; brother, George Ray Old. In addition, he leaves his grandchildren, Jason (Allison), Brett (Amy), Tucker, Matthew; greatgrandchildren, Palmer and Jack; as well as his niece, Cheril Parker Everton and nephew, George Ray Old. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Betty Ambrose Carawan.

On behalf of the Old Family, we would like to extend a special thank you and sincere appreciation to caregivers (Deneen, Bonnie, Bonita, Robbie, and Loretta) and Westminster Canterbury at Home (Heather and Jackie) for their commitment and dedication to Bob.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Sunday, July 17, 2022, from 4-6 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will be held at Great Bridge Baptist Church, 640 S. Battlefield Boulevard, Chesapeake on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 1p.m. with Dr. Will Langford and Rev. Richard Castleberry officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cancer Research Institute, 55 Broadway, Suite 1802, New York, New York 10006 or the Salvation Army, 5525 Raby Road, Norfolk, VA 23502 in Bob's honor.
