Robert Sulouff Obituary

Robert E. Sulouff Jr. CHESAPEAKE - Robert Earl Sulouff Jr., 58, passed away into the presence of the Lord, to whom he dedicated his entire life, Sept. 2, 2008, at 10:50 p.m. in Chesapeake, after living courageously with renal cancer since being diagnosed in 2007. He died peacefully with his loving family by his side. Robert was born Aug. 18, 1950, in Lewistown, Pa. As a young boy, his family moved to Orlando, Fla., where he grew up and at the age of 19 married his wife of more than 39 years. In 1971, he was reportedly one of the first B.S. graduates of UCF's engineering program, continuing on to obtain his M.S. as well. After which, he was a pioneer in the MEMS industry, including inventing the one of the first commercial MEMS accelerometers, with his last position being the director of Business Develompent/Micromachined Products division for Analog Devices. He was faithful to Jesus Christ, serving in the church and missions. He enjoyed amateur radio, woodworking and astronomy. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Robert and Janet Sulouff; his wife, Genelda; two brothers, four children and 5 1/2 grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Smith & Williams, Kempsville Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Road. A celebration of eternal life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in New Hope Christian Fellowship, 5045 Indian River Road. Expressions of sympathy can be made for missions work to the Great Commission Fund, P.O. Box 35000, Colorado Springs, CO 80935-3500. Checks should be made to CMA. You may offer condolences to the family at www.mem.com.

Genelda, We love you so much and want to send our sympathy by way of this guest book. Had wanted to come to the funeral, but the storm may prevent it.

Our prayers are with your family in the home going of Bob. He was a true man of God and is doing fine today walking on the street of gold. He fought a good fight and he finished his race. May you feel the Lord's arms of comfort around you in the days ahead. We will see him again soon.

Genelda and Bob took me in as a younger sister when I was an intern at Downey Memorial Church in 1977-78. Their home was open to me. They showed me love. I've never forgotten.
May the God of all comfort be your comfort, Genelda and family.
