Roland Joyner Obituary
Roland L. Joyner Sr. WINDSOR - Roland Lester Joyner Sr., 76, of the 8300 block of Blackwater Road, died Sept. 6, 2008, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Born in Onley, Va., he retired from Newport News Shipbuilding as a sheet metal mechanic in 1996 after 32 years of service. He was a member of El Bethel Worship Center in Holland, Va. He was a graduate of Beulah Heights School and served in the U.S. military. He is survived by wife, Mildred Scott Joyner; two daughters; three sons; mother, Dorothy Ayers Frazer; father, Lester Frazer; one sister; two brothers; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in El Bethel Worship Center, 4324 Holland Road, Suffolk, VA 23437. The Rev. Joseph J. Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, Franklin. Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home is in charge.

Dear Mildred and Family, As I sit here grasping the news of Mr. Roland's death I pray the Lord will give you and your love one's strength to go on in the days ahead. He will greatly be missed. So many memories to cherish those of singing with the Gospel Traveler's, and mainly as God's man servant. He was a blessing to all who came across his path. He left many memories to cherish during his Apostolic Faith Live On day's, especially the one song he would sing I"M TO CLOSE TO HEAVEN. He has taken his flight out, We Can't Put A Question Mark Where God Puts A Period. It's Well Now. I will keep the family in my prayers A Solider Who Fought A Good Fight For Jesus.

I am so sorry to hear of Roland's death. I will always remember the positive impact that you had on my life as a member of the Apostolic Church of God Live On. I know that you will miss him, but God will give you the strength to move on.
