Ronald Harris Obituary

Ronald Harris

Virginia Beach - Ron passed on Thursday March 26, 2015 in his home, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Ron was born October 31, 1950 in Norfolk, VA, to the late George (PeeWee) Harris and Lucille Harris. He is survived by his wife, Anji, daughter, Heather Harris, son, Matthew Harris, daughter in-law, Pam Harris, grandsons, Phoenix and Rivers Altamirano, brother, Allen Clifton Harris, and sister in-law, Margaret Harris.

Ron grew up on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and loved the beach and warm summer days. An avid surfer and beachcomber, his easygoing demeanor was reflected in his warm smile.

He retired in 1999 from the City of Norfolk after 27 years of service in the Division of Cemeteries as the manager of Riverside and Forrest Lawn Cemeteries.

Health problems eventually took away his ability to surf but he never lost the heart and soul of who he was. With a hidden talent as a poet and writer, Ron said it best:

"We're here to be a part of all"

"When riding in or taking fall"

"Take the time to hear the dolphins call"

"And feel the ocean rise and fall"

A memorial service will be held at a later date at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chapel, Virginia Beach.

Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.hdoliver.com. The date and time for the memorial services will be posted on the website.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation
