Ronald D. Mayo
Chesapeake - Ronald Darnell Mayo, 56, departed this life on April 6, 2012. He was born in Portsmouth, VA to the late Vivian Mae Mayo and James Arthur Mayo, Sr. and was employed as a welding instructor with BAE Shipyard for 30 years. He was a member of Chesapeake Christian Center.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Gwen K. Mayo; daughter, Lana Brown; son, Ronald Brown; three sisters, Rosa Griffin, Barbara Mayo, and Ernestine Harding; one brother, Charles Pierce; four grandchildren; one aunt, Mary Pleasant; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, James A. Mayo, Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2012, 12 Noon at Chesapeake Christian Center. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Corprew Funeral Home is in charge.

Mrs. Mayo & Family,
So sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. Mayo. I have worked with him at the shipyard for many years. He was a great friend and a wonderful mentor to me. There are just no words to express the heartache, he will be greatly missed. God bless you and his family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Ron's family as well as his closest friends. I have known Ron for most of his years while working at then Norshipco now BAE. He was one of a kind and it has been an honor to know him as he always had that look, that thought, that ah ha moment that kept you going. He will be greatly missed by all that came to know him and by those that came in contact with him. He was a dear and valued friend.
