Ruby Brinkley Obituary

Ruby H. Brinkley
Chesapeake - Ruby H. Brinkley, 82, of the 800 block of Laurel Ave., passed away on September 10, 2012.
Born in Norfolk to the late Mamie Smith and Henry Clay Huddleston, Sr., Ruby was a member of Indian River Methodist Church. She worked as an accountant for Norfolk City Treasurers Office for 27 years.
She is survived by her husband, Howard A. Brinkley, Sr., three children, Howard Brinkley Jr. and wife Lisa, Gary A. Brinkley and Barbara Brinkley, a sister, Dora Whitehead, five grandchildren, Michael Brinkley and wife Jodi, Gary and Heather Brinkley, Lisa and Laura Wilkerson, three great grandchildren, Austin, Noah and Kadie, and a host of nieces and nephews in Virginia, North Carolina and Florida.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Pat Walker and Rubelle Smith, and five brothers, George, Eben, Nash, Preston, and Henry C. Jr. Huddleston.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel with Rev. Cody Brinkley officiating. The family will receive friends the hour prior to services. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer unit of the Children's Hospital. Howard, Dora and family you are in my prayers, and I send my sincere sympathy to all of you at this sad time. Ruby and I grew up in Newton Park and she was a good friend to my sister Lois.
