Samuel Barclift Sr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Samuel "Rudy" Barclift Sr., 66, of the 6200 block of Drew Drive, passed away July 16, 2008. He was born Feb. 2, 1942, to the late Elise Winslow Barclift and Fred Barclift Sr. in Elizabeth City, N.C. Rudy was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and attended Tidewater Community College, Virginia Beach campus, for two years. He was self employed, installing fire and restaurant equipment. He was a member of New Hope United Church of Christ, Berkley. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ora G. Barclift; one son, Samuel R. Barclift Jr. (Heather); three sisters, Florence Moore of Brooklyn, N.C., Daisy Nelson of Raleigh, N.C., and Marcelene Peet of Norfolk; two grandchildren, Raykwon and Sean Barclift; one sister-in-law, Virgie Choate of Portsmouth; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in New Hope UCC, 145 E. Liberty St. The Rev. James W. Anderson will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at the residence one hour prior to the service for the procession to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Ave. Chapel, is in charge.
