Samuel Paxton Obituary
Scott was born in Hickory, VA to Samuel Scott Paxton and Alice Lee Paxton on February 19, 1925. He graduated from Oceana High School in 1942. Following High School he was in the Army Air Corp (1943-44); worked for the Norfolk Survey Dept. (1944-46), and finished his career with 35 years at C&P Telephone Company (1947-82). Scott was a charter member of the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad (1953-57) and a charter member and past president of the Newport News Civitan Club. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Scott loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with all of his friends. He was a member of Rogers Deer Club where he enjoyed drinking coffee with friends and hunting with his son and granddaughters.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Sarah Elizabeth Snapp. He is survived brother James Paxton and his three children, Elizabeth "Scottie" Paxton Pendleton and her husband, Steven, of Newport News, Patricia Paxton Alford and her husband, Neill, of Virginia Beach, and John Michael Paxton and his wife, Carly, of Seaford; grandchildren, Christopher Pendleton, Brian Pendleton and his wife, Colleen, Kayla Paxton, Ally Paxton, and Maggie Paxton.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 19th, at W. J. Smith and Son Funeral Home, Newport News. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ UMC, 133 Deep Creek Road, Newport News, VA 23606, or to a charity of one's choice.

It has been a privilege to serve and get to know Scotty, Mrs. Paxton and his wonderful family through the years. He will be truly missed by all of us. Our condolences to his beautiful family, who all loved him so much.
