Samuel H. Thrasher III VIRGINIA BEACH - Samuel Howard "Sam" Thrasher III, 55, founder of Greenbrier Farms Landscaping of Virginia, suddenly died in his home Dec. 22, 2007. Friends are invited to a social to celebrate his life and share their memories from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Great Bridge Methodist Church, 201 Stadium Drive, Chesapeake. He is survived by mother, Catherine Thrasher of Chesapeake; wife, Helen of Virginia Beach; children, Tiffany Thrasher-Ray of Chesapeake, Samuel Howard Thrasher IV of Nashville, Tenn., Dorothy and Chris Thrasher of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Jacob and Grant Knapp of Chesapeake, Mia Ray of Chesapeake and Caleb Braswell-Thrasher of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Ann Thrasher Thiel of Chesapeake; brother, Fredd Thrasher of Annandale, Va.; and his beloved dog and companion, Max of Virginia Beach. He was predeceased by his brother, John Thrasher and his father, Samuel Howard Thrasher Jr. As many have said, Sam never met a stranger, only a new friend.
