Capt Carkeek was my first Commanding Officer on board the Coast Guard manned Destroyer Escort "Richey" during the Korean Conflict. I made the full 6 month WestPac cruise with him as a new Ensign. He was a great CO and I truly benefitted from his advice and counsel, which I remember to this day.
Best wishes to his surviving family.

I will miss both Mr and Mrs Carkeek. I have known them since I began working in Naval Hospital at orthopaedic clinic. They were such a neat couple and a joy to be around. I am sorry for your loss. Sue Aten RN

I have known both the Carkeek's since I began working at Naval Hospital ortho clinic in 1997. I will miss seeing both of them. God Bless all his family
