Thelma Powers Obituary

Thelma Tebault Powers CHESAPEAKE - Thelma Tebault Powers devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker died Nov. 11, 2010. Mrs. Powers was a longtime resident of the Northwest section of Chesapeake. Mrs. Powers was born in Norfolk, May 14, 1919. She was the daughter of Luta Freeman Tebault and Richard Murray Tebault and widow of Stanley L. Powers. She was a graduate of Hickory High School and Kees Business College. She was a member of Northwest Baptist Church and the WMU. Survivors include her two daughters, Rebecca P. Mince and Roxanna P. Harris; two sisters, Mildred T. Bray of Portsmouth and Irene T. Frost of Virginia Beach; one brother, Earl M. Tebault of Virginia Beach; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Sunday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. at Northwest Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael C. Smith Memorials may be made to Northwest Baptist Church, 848 Ballahack Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322 or to a favorite charity.

Roxie, my deepest sympathy and heart felt condolences to you and your entire family. Just from how you spoke of her I know she will be sorely missed. Becky and Roxie, I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mother. She was such a wonderful lady and will be missed by all who knew her. I always enjoyed sending her the Alaska newspaper clippings and the pictures of the moose. She always expressed her appreciation for them. I will miss her.
