Theodore Michael Katana, 77, passed away on July 14, 2021 in a local hospital. Theo was a native of Latrobe, PA and was the son of the late Theodore and Florence Katana. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp where he held the rank of Captain and served two tours in Vietnam. He was a graduate of Clemson University where he starred on the football team and played the Linebacker position, and he was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fanatic. Theo loved his Clemson Tigers, his Pittsburg Steelers and his Lambie (wife). He worked as a district manager for food services. Theo was a devote catholic with a strong faith, and a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He had a wonderful zest for life and people. He made everyone feel special, and he loved his "gym rats" at Wareings Gym.

Theo is survived by his loving wife, Katya Katana, siblings, Robert Katana (Sharon), Nancy Siko (John), and Donna Simmons, as well as numerous nieces nephews and godchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Michael Katana.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday July 22, 2021 in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Rd Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Virginia Beach on Friday July 23, 2021 at 12:00 Noon. Burial will take place in Quantico National Cemetery at a later date. Theo requests that anyone attending please wear orange. Online condolences may be made to the family at hdoliver.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Star of the Sea Catholic Church.

What joy Theo brought to our lives! He was a lovely man, and those of us who knew him were blessed. He would be proud of how his "lambie" Katya has carried on in his spirit since his passing.

Sorry to see Ted passed I think very well liked by everyone a true son of Florence Katana a sweetheart of a woman and Ted Sr a good neighbor ! Hello to Nancy Donna and Bob and congrats on a really good brother actually two cause Mike was another nice guy and fun Mike just friendly funny and never saw him harm anyone purposely! Katya this is Bill Tageson and we met when you and Theo lived in VA Beach in late 1970s. I just learned of his 2021 passing and wanted to send you my condolences for a friend on many years going back to 1966 or 67 when we were all serving in the mlitary during the Vietnam War. I will always remember our chats on the treadmill. Thank you for all the 4th of July invites. So much fun by the pool. But most of all I felt very special when you brought me the Clemson shirt. I have too many memories to share here, all good and many truly amazing, no one has ever gotten more out of their body than Theo Katana and in all our adventures , I never witnessed any fear or trepidation, just carry on Captain Katana , I hope to see you again. Bought some trees to plant in your memory, my brother, but they did not have any in orange. I know.....i was disappointed, too!
