Theodore Thomas Obituary
Portsmouth - Theodore Thomas, 74, of the 5800 block of Campbell Street was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Bon Secours Maryview Hospital. He was born in Norfolk County to the late Lillie Paige Thomas and Robert Thomas, Sr. He graduated from Crestwood High School and attended University of Virginia Engineering Program. Theodore later graduated from Norfolk State University with a B.S. in Physics in 1966 and with a Masters in Education from Norfolk State University in 1991. He was a member of Grove Baptist Church. Theodore was also an active member with the Portsmouth Norfolk State Alumni Chapter. He was also the family handyman and advisor.
Theodore leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Chikita D. Simmons of Virginia Beach; a sister Elizabeth Loney of Portsmouth, Va.; four brothers: Robert Thomas, Jr., Alexander Thomas, Sr., Leslie Thomas Sr., Nathaniel Thomas, Sr. (Mary), and Walter Thomas (Yvonne) all of Portsmouth, Va. and a grandchild, Nimel L. Woodson of Virginia Beach. Theodore will also be missed by a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. at J. T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1248 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. A life celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Grove Baptist Church, 5910 W. Norfolk Road, Portsmouth where the pastor is Dr. Melvin O. Marriner. The eulogist will be Rev. Bernard Thomas. Burial will be at Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family has entrusted J. T. Fisher Funeral Services to handle the final care arrangements. When we told Uncle we were getting married, he flew in early to meet my husband, spent the week helping us prepare, and he stood in as my Grandfather at the wedding. He will be so greatly missed and never forgotten. Our prayers are with you always.
