Thomas Burgus

Thomas E. Burgus SUFFOLK - Thomas Eugene Burgus, 88, of Deerfield Drive, died April 3, 2009, in a Portsmouth hospital. A native of Omaha, Neb., he was the widower of Emma Atwater Burgus. Mr. Burgus retired from the Norfolk Naval Air Station, was a member of Believers Church, and a past master of the Ocean View Masonic Lodge. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a Pearl Harbor survivor. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn B. Breeding and husband Jim of Chesapeake; two grandchildren, Todd Breeding and wife Jennifer and Emily Skrobiszewski and husband Carl; and three great-grandchildren, Heather Lowton and Kyle and Anna Skrobiszewski. A memorial service will be held today at 7 p.m. in Believers Church by Pastor Jamey Stuart. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling arrangements.
