Thomas Moore Obituary

Thomas R. Moore EMPORIA - Capt. Thomas Randolph Moore, a retired deputy with Greensville County Sheriff Department, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 in his home surrounded by love ones. A native of Emporia, he was the son of the late William D. Moore and the late Jeanette W. Moore- Easter. He was a 1965 graduate of the E. W. Wyatt High School in Greensville County, a member of New Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, Norfolk, and a founding member of Emporia A.M.E. Mission and its Steward Board. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after having served one tour of duty in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, the Rev. Eloise J. Neal-Moore of Emporia; two sons, Thomas R. "Randy" Moore (Julie), Reuben J. Neal III (Valerie), both of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Tonya D. Moore-Powell (James) of Virginia Beach, and Sharon Neal-Johnson of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Veronica Moore of Norfolk; one brother, Burtis Easter (Felicia) of Richmond; five grandsons, six granddaughters, three great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons; three special cousins, Frances Carter, Sheree Moody, and John Moore; many nephews, nieces and cousins. A wake will be held Sunday, Oct. 24, in the Knox High Mortuary Inc., 568 Halifax St., Emporia, from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 25, at noon in the Royal Baptist Church, Atlantic St., with the Rev. Joel Tomlin officiating.
