Tyler Carnes Obituary

Tyler Allan Carnes

Virginia Beach - Tyler Allan Carnes, 21, passed July 11, 2014. He was born on July 16, 1992 in Portsmouth to Jessica Carnes Purcell and Keith Simonowich. Tyler graduated from Tallwood High School in 2010 and was currently attending ODU. He will be remembered to all that know and love him as being a great friend, brother, son, and grandson; one that you could count on to cheer you up when down, be supportive when needed or give a beautiful smile at the right time. Tyler often said he would "Change the World"; he accomplished this through his gifts of life. Tyler made the decision to become an organ donor at age 15. This honorable, selfless act can only attest to the amazing young man he is.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Jessica Carnes Purcell and Dads, Robert Purcell, Jr. and Keith Simonowich; siblings Riley and Jackson Purcell; grandparents, Jane and Allan Carnes, Laura Purcell, Robert Purcell, Sr., and Diane Simonowich; cousins, Dillon Garrett and Brandon DeWitt; and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Johnny Allan Simonowich.

The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd., Va. Beach on Friday from 6-9 p.m. where a service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. Pastor Raymond P. Groves, Sr. officiating. Interment following in Princess Anne Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to JDRF-Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Hampton Roads Chapter 291 Independence Blvd. Suite 517 Virginia Beach, VA 23462. We were so blessed to have been in Tyler's life when he was younger. I still have a Pokemon picture he had drawn for me for my birthday one year.He said I have no money but I did this with love. I pull it out from time to time. I will cherish it always. May god bring you peace during this difficult time. We are so sorry for your loss.

Tyler, You are with us forever. Not only in our thoughts but in our hearts. We are so truly blessed to have you in our lives. Your smile would brighten any day. We will always remember the day you came into our lives. With the blonde hair and big smile who only wanted to eat bread. We will think of you everytime we see a butterfly because of your decision to be an organ donor and give to others. We love you always. MooMoo, Tammy, JR and Jessica

The day Tyler and his mom stepped into my life the word forever changed for me. They gave me a reason to love others more than myself. I grew into the person I am today because of them and the love they both have for me. The day his mother and I were married Tyler told us both "I got married today to ". He was only 5 years old then and what an amazing thing for a little boy to say to his new father. Our relationship only grew stronger from there and I miss him so badly. In recent years Tyler often told us he wasn't sure yet what he wanted to be in life but he knew he wanted to change the word. He did just that in his death because as a 15 year old he made the choice to become an organ donor and he indeed changed the world for many families. I could not be more proud of him. He was a great big brother to his little brother and sister. Often he took time to do little things for them and with them. He was my friend, my comic relief, my reason to work so hard in life, but most importantly he was my son. I Love You Tyler and miss you greatly.

Tyler worked at the Walgreens next to my apartment complex. I would go in there just about every day for the past year and he quickly became a familiar face. He was the sweetest guy. Always smiling and carrying on a conversation with me. He was also helping me as I would be running in with my children. He always looked out for us. Matter a fact the last time I saw Tyler was a few days before the accident when he literally ran across the parking lot to catch me because I dropped something from my wallet. When I went in there the other day and saw his pictures and a sign saying we will miss you my heart immediately sank. When they told me what had happened I couldn't even hold back the tears. That right there should tell you what kind of person he was. I didn't even know him but from walgreens and he made that much of an impact on my life. His parents must be so proud. What a fine young man they raised. They say only the good die young. RIP Tyler and prayers and condolences to his friends and family. ?? Crystal, Chris, Bella, and Liam.
