Virginia Borum Obituary

Virginia H. Borum CHESAPEAKE - Virginia Frances Hewitt Borum, 80, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009. She was a native of Portsmouth and the daughter of the late James M. and Rachel G. Hewitt. She was also predeceased by her brothers, James and Robert Hewitt and her sisters, Thelma Paul and Mildred Rock. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Howard W. Borum Sr.; one daughter, Pamela Goncalves of Chesapeake; two sons, Howard W. Borum Jr. and his wife Connie of Chesapeake, Richard L. Borum of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. Her civil service career began in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and she retired as a management analyst with 27 years of service from Kings Bay, Ga. A funeral will be held Tuesday, July 7, at 11 a.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Martha Goodman. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. and will also be at 2041 Ames Circle N., Chesapeake.
