Virginia Charles Obituary

Virginia R. Charles VIRGINIA BEACH - Virginia R. Charles, 86, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009. She was born in Chelsea, Mass., Feb. 17, 1923. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius "Nick" Charles; sister, Evelyn; and brothers, Tom, Charles "Buddy" and Paul. Virginia was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a faithful Catholic throughout her life and most recently involved in the residents' council of Luthor Manor. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by two daughters, Margaret "Peggy" Eggleton and husband Bill of Virginia Beach, Evelyn "Evanne" Baynard and husband Tom of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, David Eggleton and wife Julie, Julie Howell and husband Nathan, Jennifer Maguire, Jessica Munoz and husband Luke; six great-grandchildren, Nathan Eggleton, Presley Maguire, Caleb Howell, Virginia Howell, Annabelle Eggleton and Hunter Eggleton; two brothers, John Lombard, Ralph Cragin and wife Beverly; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial Mass will be held Monday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. in the Church of the Ascension, 4853 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, with Father James E. Parke officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4416 Expressway Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23452. Condolences may be made to the family at www.altmeyer.com.
