William McKinnon Obituary
Bill was a lifelong sportsman and loved to play baseball, tennis, and golf. He enjoyed watching any sport that had a round ball. Bill and Glenda began playing bridge with his parents early in their marriage and became lifelong avid bridge partners. He was an elder and a deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk and taught Sunday school. Bill was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He has been called a perfect southern gentleman; anyone who knew him would attest to that.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Glenda Goodman McKinnon, his son William James McKinnon III, and his four grandchildren, Virginia Grace, Regan Elizabeth, Lachlan James, and Layla Skye McKinnon. He was preceded in death by his son John Lauchlan McKinnon. He is also survived by his three brothers Dr. MacKay McKinnon, Jeffery Hawley McKinnon, and John David McKinnon as well as their families and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach on Thursday, March 16 at 11:00. HD Oliver Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach. Online condolences may be made to the family at hdoliver.com.
