I will always remember those days when Bill, his father Ed, and I went backpacking in the wildernes. As a boy Bill was very physically and mentally tough. Even back then I knew that Bill was a boy of adventure. The fact that he later became a Navy SEAL was no surprise to me. I really miss Bill and his dad, Ed Mulder. There were true men of adventure.

Just heard the news about Bill and I am crushed. Although I never went to college with Bill I am from Pella and I played football at Central College a few years after he left. He was larger than life to the younger players. Stories from the coaches and teammates about him and his courage were lengendary. Every time I spoke to him when he would come back and visit I would be in awe. Not only was he a real life navy seal but he was a helluva guy as well. Bill had such a great affect on so many people and may he rest in peace

Oh Bill, this news has crushed my spirits! Some of my fondest memories as a young buck in des moines was living with you and brian. Our winter camping excursions, our paintball wars, our early morning deep conversations... I missed you when you left for the navy and although our paths drifted apart, you were always a hero of mine and I bragged about you often. Our prayers are with your family. Our son, Brian, and Bill became best friends and roommates while students and football players at Central College. We loved his kind and gentle side and also knew burning in his heart was the desire for adventure. We are
sad that his life ended at such a young age. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our sympathies go out to you Sydney and your children.
