Ynestra Lynn Russell CHESAPEAKE - On Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 the Lord sent for one of his precious angels, Ynestra Lynn Russell. Ynestra was born in Montezumi, Ga., to Mrs. Mildred Carter and the late Mr. Emmitt Mathis Sr. and attended Georgia's public school system. She was a faithful member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, where she served as an elder. Ordained as an elder, she was also a licensed minister and employed as their financial secretary. Ynestra leaves to cherish precious memory her loving and devoted husband, Elder Edward Russell; a loving son, William "Jayme" Rusell; mother, Mrs. Mildred Carter; three sisters, Katreena Arnold (Clarence), Rhonda Williams (James) and Sharon Emmitt; one brother, Emmitt Mathis Jr. (Faye); brother-in-law, John Russell (Karen); several godchildren; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. A homegoing service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Norfolk with Bishop C.V. Russell Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park in Chesapeake. Viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today at the church. Fitchett Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
