bartonville - Charles Earl Cochran, 89, of Mendenhall, Miss., formerly of Bartonville, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Simpson General Hospital.
Charles was born July 23, 1922, in Harristown, Ill., a son of the late Charles Earl and Edna (Muldoon) Cochran.
He married Evelyn Talley on Aug. 27, 1947, in Decatur, Ill. She preceded him in death.
One infant daughter, three brothers and his son, Dennis Lee Cochran, also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his sons, Earl (and Sandy) Cochran of Germantown Hills and Dale (and Peggy) Cochran of Peoria. Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Lois Cochran of Mendenhall, Miss.; seven grandchildren, Stefani (Scott) Lindsey of Washington, Ill., Tifani (Chad) Boettcher of Valparaiso, Ind., Jed Cochran of Memphis, Tenn., Jeremy (Christina) of Mendenhall, Miss., and Patrick, Tara and Alaina Cochran, all of Peoria. Seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Charles graduated from Cowden Community High School in 1940.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran from December 1942 to December 1945, Charles served in Europe. Charles retired in 1982 from FS (Farm Supply), where he had worked for 32 years as a semi truck driver.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012, in Ramsey, Ill. There will be a half hour visitation prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., which Charles has supported for years.
