Charles Rager Obituary

Charles E. "Chuck" Rager
PEORIA - Charles E. "Chuck" Rager of Peoria passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at the age of 92, after recently suffering a stroke and heart complications.
Chuck was a life-long resident of Peoria, having attended Woodruff High School, where he lettered in three sports, and was captain of the baseball, basketball, and football teams. He received an athletic scholarship to Bradley University, where he graduated with a BA in business. During the Korean War, he dutifully served in the Illinois National Air Guard. Chuck was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Company in 1961 and faithfully worked there for 42 years. He served as the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Corporate Services Division from 1990-1993. During his employment at Caterpillar, Chuck was actively involved with the United Way campaign and was a longtime member of Rotary International. In 2001, he was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award by the Averyville Kingman Woodruff Alumni Association. Chuck was also very active in the Peoria faith community, first as a member of Madison Avenue, and then University United Methodist Church.
Family was the foundation and focus of Chuck's life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ora and Ruth Rager; and his sister, Doris Huffman.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Maryln, whom he married in 1955; and three children, Scott (Margo) Rager, Stephen Rager and Sharon (Jeffrey) Windsor. He is also survived by his brothers, Donald Rager and Kenneth Rager.
Whereas burial will be at Mt. Hawley Cemetery, a celebration of life will be held at a date and location yet to be determined by the family. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.

Chuck was a long time member of University United Methodist Church. Despite the fact that he was a corporate executive, he served on the UUMC Nursery School Board for many years and offered both program and financial advice. I consider him to be one of greatest role models and know that all of us will miss him. Our sympathy to Marlyn and family in this time of mourning. God Bless all of you.
