PEKIN - Chester W. Brewer, 79, of Pekin, formerly of East Peoria, died at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Wayne County, Tenn., to John Henry and Merica (Brewer) Brewer. He married Dorothy M. Huber on June 20, 1953, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on Nov. 7, 2010.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randall Brewer; one brother; and two sisters.
Surviving are three sons, Raymond Brewer of New Albany, Ind., Richard (Karen) Brewer of Pekin and Rodney (Amy) Brewer of Speer; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bessie Scott of East Peoria and Marie Schuman of Brighton, Mich.
Chester worked at Caterpillar Inc. in Mossville at the Technical Center as a precision machinist, retiring on Aug. 1, 1981, after 30 1/2 years of service. He owned and operated Brewer Machine Shop in Groveland from 1972 to 2008. He also constructed five homes in which his family had lived in.
He attended East Peoria First Church of the Nazarene, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, with the Rev. Tim Livengood officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
