KEWANEE - Frederick "Rick" Tillman Hawk Blume, 57, of Kewanee died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, in the emergency room at Kewanee Hospital.
Rick was born April 13, 1955, in Alton, Ill., the son of James T. and Shirley (Hawk) Blume. He graduated from Richwoods High School in Peoria, Ill., in 1973. He attended Illinois Central College and Bradley University. Rick married Terry Frazelle on Aug. 13, 1977. They were later divorced. Rick married Kerry Sleeper on Oct. 10, 1987, in Peoria, Ill.
She survives, along with three sons, Austin (Jacqueline) Blume of Chesterfield, Pa., Ryan Blume of Normal, Ill., and Patrick Blume of Kewanee; two daughters, Janessa (Justin) Worthington of West Chester, Pa., and Katie Blume of Kewanee; three sisters, Claudia (Tracy) Christ of Metamora, Ill., Jamesley Lane of Springfield, Ill., and Ann (Lowell) Gropp of Metamora, Ill.; an uncle, David (Kathy) Blume of Pekin, Ill.; 15 nieces and nephews; and 12 great-nieces and -nephews; and his mother-in-law, Rita Sleeper.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Robert Lane; and his father-in-law, Thomas E. Sleeper Sr.
Rick was a sheet metal worker for Sheet Metal Workers International Local No. 1, based out of Peoria. Rick had worked as an estimator for Natkin and Company Mechanical Contractors in Peoria, and was later VP/General Manager of Mechanical Insulation Co. Inc. in Kewanee. He was an estimator for Iowa Illinois Taylor Insulation in Davenport, Iowa.
He was trustee for Local 81 Pension Fund and was a member of the Midwest Insulation Contractors Association. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kewanee.
He enjoyed sharing his love for cooking with others, riding his Harley, telling stories and spending time with family and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kewanee, Ill. Father Christopher Haake will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in the Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria, Ill. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home in Kewanee, Ill., where the rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the Peoria Rescue Ministries or the charity of the donor's choice.
