WASHINGTON - Gary L. Tweddale, 76, of Washington, Ill., formerly of Metamora, Ill., passed away at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Proctor, with his family by his side.
Gary was born on Dec. 9, 1937, to Charles D. and Bernice (Wineteer) Tweddale in Peoria, Ill. He married Patricia Kimberlin on May 21, 1961.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia of Washington; and their son, Scott (Tari) Tweddale of Champaign, Ill.
Gary was raised in Washburn, Ill., and lived most of his adult life in Metamora, Ill.
He worked at Hallmark Fixtures, a division of Hallmark Cards, for 37 years, retiring in 1993. He later worked part time as a driver for Mangold Ford-Mercury in Eureka, Ill.
He was a member of Metamora Christian Union Church in Metamora, Ill.
Gary enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was an avid fan of 1950s-era cars.
The family would like to express their gratitude to OSF Home Health Care.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Metamora Christian Union Church in Metamora, with the Rev. Gary Salm officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel. Burial will be in Linn-Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Washburn, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Metamora Christian Union Church or the Washington Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
