TOLUCA - George H. Young, 86, of Toluca died at 12:53 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Heartland Health Care Center in Henry.
George was born Dec. 23, 1925, in Woodville, Wis., to George and Julia Anfinson Young, the youngest of their eight children. His youth was spent on the family dairy farm in Wisconsin just east of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from Minneapolis Business College and worked for Wilson Foods for 38 years, retiring as their director of sales.
He married Helen Trostheim in the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa, and they were blessed with 62 years together.
George was a lifelong Lutheran and gave back to his community through involvement with numerous civic organizations. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips. His summer hobby was tending to his beautiful yard and flowers.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughter, Sharon Pasquale of Normal; three sons, George III (Joan) of Toluca, Thomas (Julie) of Royal Center, Ind., and Robert (Lori) of Medina, Ohio; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers.
His funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Toluca, with the Rev. Barbara Ziah officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Toluca. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and for an hour prior to services Thursday, both at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or to the charity of the donor's choice. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home in Toluca is in charge of arrangements.
George was a wonderful man who was positive, kind and generous. He loved the Lord, his family and many friends. We will miss him more than words can say.
His Lord said unto him, "Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." Matthew 25:23.

A gentleman who was extremely kind to our parents as we are sure he was to all. A gentleman who was a class act, one we always looked forward to visiting with on our return to Toluca.
He leaves this world a better place.
May God be with Helen and the rest of the family.

We are very sad that we won't be able to celebrate Uncle George's life by attending his funeral. He was a wonderful brother to my Mom and a wonderful man and we will miss him.
