Harry Hammer Obituary
WASHINGTON - Harry R. Hammer, 80, of Washington passed away at 12:05am Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Hopedale Medical Complex in Hopedale.
Harry was born January 26, 1941, in Pekin to the late Richard A. and Sarah Parkin Hammer. He married Patricia Agee on June 15, 1990, in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Staci (Larry) Brent of Pekin and Troy (Tammy) Hammer of Canton; grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Dustin, Hailey, Sydney, and Nick; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert and Dennis Hammer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Kay Melton and Mary Ann Peterson.
Harry served in the US Army and went on to work at Caterpillar, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed sports, but especially loved watching his St. Louis Cardinals play. He was very patriotic and proudly displayed the American flag wherever he could. To keep busy and spend time outside, he took up mowing lawns. He was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church and his faith was important to him, carrying a rosary with him everywhere he would go.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Buckeye Cemetery in rural Morton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
