PRINCEVILLE - Harry D. Herrmann, 79, of Princeville passed away at his residence on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born July 4, 1931, in Edelstein, Ill., to Albert and Louise (Siebenthal) Herrmann. He married Bertha Jean Kieser on Nov. 10, 1957. She survives.
They were blessed with four children, Dennis (Renee) of Edelstein, Cheryl Herrmann of Princeville, Crystal (David) Streitmatter of Elmwood and Cynthia (Brad) Eisenmann of New Lenox. He also enjoyed his 12 precious grandchildren, Dallas, Victoria, Daniel and Destiny Herrmann; Brittany (Adam) Endress, Brooke, Braden and Brianna Streitmatter; and Greg, Ryan, Julie and Nelson Eisenmann. Two brothers, Noah (Evie) and Walter (Betty Lou); and sister-in-law, Betty, also survive.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene; and sister, Margaret.
Harry was a lifetime farmer living on the Herrmann home place near Edelstein for 60 years before retiring in Princeville.
He was a Peoria County Farm Bureau member, serving as president for eight years and Akron Township clerk and supervisor for 24 years.
He also was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Harry was a member of the Princeville Apostolic Christian Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and church treasurer for many years. He loved the fellowship of his church and had many friends around the country.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at the Princeville Apostolic Christian Church. Ministers of the church will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, and also from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Akron-Princeville Ambulance Service.

I have just learned of the loss of Harry. My mom spoke kind of him often and I think highly of your family....I don't know if Cindy remembers being my teacher Freshman year, but have told my daughter before of the guy who used to sit behind her Grandma in school and the fact that his daughter became my teacher in high school ....My prayers are with you and your family
