Farmington - James L. "Mac" Maccanelli, 63, of Farmington, Ill., passed away at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at his residence, after a very brave fight against pancreatic cancer.
He was born Sept. 11, 1949, in Canton, Ill., to Pete and Jane (Newcomb) Maccanelli. Jane survives him, along with two brothers, Frank (Frances) of Northridge, Calif., and Marion of Plano, Texas.
Jim first married Donna Cox on Jan. 23, 1972. She died Aug. 10, 1972. He then married Donita McAdams on Sept. 18, 1974. She survives, along with three daughters, Amanda (Robert) Oldfield of Farmington, Rebecca (Jay) Stear-Weiland of Columbia, Mo., and Cassandra (Duchane) Anderson of Canton. Also surviving are his royal court, Brandon and Samantha Moore, Megan and Tyler Stear, Kayla and Kelsey Weiland; and his little princesses, Sophia and Olivia Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Pete; his brother, Perry, and his grandson, Jonathon James Moore.
Jim had retired from Farmington Wilbert Vault Co. in August 2011. Before that, he operated Maccanelli Trucking and had worked at IHC in Canton. His second job for the last 40 years had been to build and maintain some of the best apartments in the area.
He was a man who helped others. He was a real family man who put his family ahead of everything. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Cremation rites have been accorded. At his request, there will be no visitation. There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Brunswick Cemetery, Trivoli, with the Rev. David Utt officiating.
Memorials may be made to the wonderful women at Graham Hospice or the brave men at Farmington Rescue 1100.
