Jean James
LINCOLN - Jean Marie James, 88, of Lincoln, formerly of San Jose, died at Lincoln Christian Village at 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021.
She was born on July 30, 1932, in Pekin, Illinois, to Sterling and Helen (Gumbel) Woodley. She married Harold T. James on June 1, 1952, in Manito. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2013.
Mrs. James is survived by three children, Renee (Victor) Diver of Glasford, Sandra (Dan) Moehring of Lincoln and David (Jean) James of Lake Fork, Illinois; and five granddaughters, Heather Hayden, Holly Flexsenhar, Leslie Simpson, Lydia Allen and Laura Lefelstein; as well as five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Mrs. James was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Manito, where she was a member of the Ladies League. She taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years, and had served as Church Secretary for three years. She had worked for Corn Products, U.S. Air Force, as a Teacher's Aide, Librarian's Aide, and as a secretary at Albers Insurance in San Jose. She was an accomplished artist, owning and operating "Prairie Painting by Jean James" for over twenty years.
Private graveside services will be held at Green Valley Cemetery at a later date. The Rev. James Batchelor will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Online memorial messages may be left for the family at www.hurleyfh.com.
Maas-Hurley Funeral Home in Manito is in charge of arrangements.
