Joanne Salmon Obituary

Joanne M. Salmon
PEORIA - Joanne Marie Salmon, age 89, of Peoria passed away peacefully at 6:48 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, surrounded by her family.
Born December 1, 1929, in Peoria, she was a daughter to William L. and Marie U. (Kelly) Friedman. On June 10, 1950, she married M. James Salmon at St. Bernard Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2018.
Joanne was a devout Catholic and loving mother who cherished her faith and enjoyed raising six children. She loved playing bridge and doing crossword puzzles and was an avid reader, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joanne loved the past four years she spent at Buehler Home, making memories and enjoying the company of not only her life long friends, but also the new friends she made.
Survivors include six children, Kathy (Ike) Comte of Mayfield, KY, Nancy (Dennis) Winne of Peoria, Tim (Cindy) Salmon of Germantown Hills, Susie (Jeff) Smith of Dunlap, Matt (Beth) Salmon of Dunlap and Mike (Becki) Salmon of Germantown Hills; 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Kay Friedman.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; and one granddaughter, Sarah Salmon.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018, between the hours of 5 to 7 p.m. at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Philomena Catholic Church, with an additional visitation being held 30 minutes prior to mass. Father David Richardson will officiate and burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in West Peoria.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home for the loving care they provided during her final days.
Memorials in Joanne's memory may be made to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home or St. Philomena Catholic Church.
