Kent Malinosky Obituary

EAST PEORIA - Kent Malinosky, 50, of East Peoria passed away at 2:16 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Kent was born on Aug. 26, 1964, in Hollywood, Calif., to Walter and Betty (Anderson) Malinosky. He married Tina Schlink on Aug. 11, 2001, in Golden, Colo. She survives.

He also is survived by four sons, Ayden and Asher, both of East Peoria, and Christopher (Courtney) and Austin, both of North Dakota; one daughter, Nykyla of South Dakota; two granddaughters; six brothers, Joe of Ohio, Richard and Gary, both of California, Thomas of Kansas City, Kan., and Dale and Craig of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Betty; and two sisters, Katherine and Carrie Ann.

Kent was a graduate of Biloxi High School in Mississippi.

He honorably served in the U.S. Army.

He worked as a maintenance contractor for Nussbaum Transportation Trucking Company.

He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria, Boy Scouts Pack 168 of St. Patrick School in Washington and the East Peoria Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Gryzbowski Council 7580.

Kent loved spending time with his family and playing with his children. He also loved camping and boating.

He volunteered at St. Monica Catholic Church and with the Boy Scouts.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria. Father Steve Willard will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, also at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of ashes will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.

Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.

Tina, Mary & Bob, and all who were close and loved Kent. I am so sorry for your loss, and at such a vulnerable time, especially. It's always difficult to lose a loved one, but during holidays, makes it even more distressing and difficult to process. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you, and your families.
