LACON - Lisa Ann Osborne, 48, of Lacon peacefully passed away at 11:55 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at her home, surrounded by a room full of family and friends after a courageous and inspiring 3 1/2-year battle with cancer.
She was born on July 19, 1963, in Niles, Mich., to Donald W. and Shirley A. (Swanson) Carson. She married David W. Osborne on April 13, 1985, in Lacon; he survives.
Also surviving are daughter, Kaitlyn Ann (Zach) Asher; son, Anthony David Osborne; daughter, Lauren Olivia Osborne; mother, Shirley A. Carson; brothers, Randall W. Carson and Scott (Pam) Carson; sisters, Becky (Doug) Strong and Dede (John) Hosler; mother-in-law, Leona Mae "Sally" Osborne; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Paul) Grossenbacher and Paula Nixon; brother-in-law, Don (Sue) Osborne; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, father-in-law, one brother, one sister, one sister-in-law, two nieces and one nephew.
Lisa's caring nature made her the wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt that cannot be replaced. She gave her husband and children unconditional love. Her magnetic personality attracted people from all walks of life. She would make it a point to truly know the people who came into her life. She always took the time to become a true friend. Lisa was full of life, energy, fun and mischief, and she was always spontaneous. She insisted on attending her children's events no matter where or what they were.
Lisa enjoyed concerts, watching Notre Dame football and frustrating Cubs seasons. She loved to travel and her favorite destination was Sanibel Island, Fla. She loved walking along the shore; collecting shells; going to her favorite pub, Timbers; but most of all, her precious visits with her Florida family.
Lisa was a 1981 graduate of Mid-County High School and the Stephens School of Cosmetology.
For several years, she owned and operated Lisa's Hair House in Lacon. She retired to raise her children. She worked for Midland School District as a teacher's aide and as the dance team coach.
Lisa was a passionate advocate for a cancer cure. In conjunction with the Marshall County Motorcycle Club, the Lisa's Ride benefit raised over $13,000, and her legacy will continue. Lisa took pride in counseling other cancer victims. She insisted that her family go for genetic cancer gene testing.
Lisa was a brave and inspirational woman who will be dearly missed by her family, her friends and her community.
The family can never repay the gentle and extraordinary care from the Illinois Cancer Care in Peoria, where memorials can be made to them, in lieu of flowers.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lacon. Deacon Bob Murphy will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, also at the church.

I am gratefully sorry for your loss. I cared deeply for Lisa. She did so much for not only me but everyone that knew her. She was a wonderful mother, wife, and friend. I was not the closest person to her but i became a better friend of hers after my car wreck out at the high school. She was there for me holding my hand while i was bawling my eyes out on the ground helpless because i could not feel my one leg. I will never forget the worry she had in her eyes for me as i was laying there and will never forget that moment. She was an amazing women and will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family through this tough time.

Our sincere sympathy to Lisa's family, friends and community. It was not surprising to hear she was surrounded by love when her forever journey began. Thank you for the beautiful story of her life; beautifully written but even so just a sparkle into the beauty of her life. The beauty lives on in her family and friends! And of course, her love is not contained as she is reunited with everyone up in Glory!! I know her dear friends are already arguing about who is going to get the mansion next to hers! Her new journey with the Heavenly Father is exciting! The Bible says we will be there in a blink of an eye.
We moved to Lacon in 1999. Moving to a quaint, friendly, little town was exciting to us. And most people were "accepting", (sort of) of us. Lisa was always kind, friendly, welcoming!!! That meant the world to us!!!! We will never forget her!!
See you soon Lisa!

I didn't really know Lisa personally, but I used to live in Lacon and went to school with her daughter, Katie. I had seen Lisa around town, in the Old Settler's Parade for example, and in my mom Karen Cox's State Farm agency on a few occasions. Lisa always had a smile on her face and seemed to be in such a great and happy mood all the time. That's how I'll remember her. My thoughts and prayers are with all of her family, friends and others whose lives she touched. She is an angel for all of you.
