Loren and Mary both told us that upon arriving home after their first date, that each of them told their parents that the date was special. Both said that if the other person wanted, they would marry them. After one date. Really sweet.

A year after his passing, I recall us sharing many stories about each of us growing up in tiny farming communities. Loren was compassionate and caring, witty & wise, truly a "teacher" in every sense of the word. Great memories of you and Mary, Old Field Hand.

Loren Logsdon's parents were close friends and neighbors of my parents and grandparents at Versailles decades ago. While I remember his parents, I didn't meet him until I was a graduate student in the English Dept at WIU in the late '80s, when he was a reader for my thesis. What an exceptional person he was. Even after I graduated, he shared with me his memories of our hometown and my family (what a writer!), and invited me to Eureka to hear the likes of Ray Bradbury and Robert Pinsky. I am a better mentor to others for having been mentored by him, and I hope I share the same spirit of generosity and care that he showed me.

Loren was a member of The First Christian Church in Macomb for many years, which allowed me to be his pastor. He was a very graceful, affirming person who served the church well! His students at WIU were delighted by his classes and his natural for them! All who knew him were enriched by his presence.

Dr. Loren Logsdon will forever by the Grinch Who Stole Christmas at Eureka! He played the part with the same great enthusiasm he lived life. His impact on students, staff and faculty alike is great! I believe that he buoyed up many a flailing student over the years with his strong sense of love for humanity and understanding of student frailties. As a staff member I took note of the way the students adored him and tried to emulate his positivity as much as possible. Dr. Logsdon's legacy to Eureka is immeasurable. He and his wife Mary were wonderful ambassadors for the college and for the city of Eureka as well. He will be missed greatly.

Dr. Logsdon was more than just my professor in the several classes I took from him at Eureka. As a non-traditional student I felt very comfortable with Dr. Logsdon and we had many long discussions during my time at Eureka and after graduation. The fall after graduation in 1995 I began teaching Language Arts and continued for 23 years until retiring in2018. I patterned my teaching style after Dr. Logsdon and feel that I had success doing so. We spoke several times over the years, and I always thanked him for inspiring me to become the teacher I was. He was much more than a professor, he was a mentor, colleague, and friend. He will truly be missed. My condolences to the family.

Though Loren Logsdon was my Dad's dear friend and office mate, he also made time for our whole family and we loved him for all his stories and his inclusion of all of us in his heart and life. He is the kind of person we desperately need in this world and his loss will be deeply felt. Thank you, Clugston, for all you've done for the Veech family over the years. We'll miss you!

Known Loren since 1961 when he was my JV basketball coach at EC, as well as teaching a couple of classes. Lifelong pal. I know of no one who has ever....EVER....said a bad thing about him. Wonderful teacher, role model, friend. Hope we meet again, Old Field Hand.

Loren and I were friends since graduate school at Ohio University--more than 50 years. He is the most kind, hard-working, supportive friend I've ever had. I'm sure his many students over the years and his many friends in Eureka feel the same way and feel the great loss his passing presents. Thank you, Loren, for everything and for being my friend.

Loren was the best teacher I ever had, and also one of my closest friends. Nancy and I send sincere condolences to Mary, Lori, Bruce, and Beth.
