TREMONT - Lyle A. Weihmeir, 93, of Creve Coeur, formerly of Tremont, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, at Fondulac Rehab & Health Center in East Peoria.

He was born July 5, 1921, in Hopedale to Fred and Etta Seih Weihmeir. He married Shirley Belcher on July 25, 1987, in Creve Coeur, and she survives.

Also surviving are six stepsons, James, Patrick, Thomas, John, Joseph and Richard Belcher; two stepdaughters, Coleen Martin and Cathleen Guldan; several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; one niece, Carolyn Fisher of New York; one nephew, William Summerfield of Illinois; and two great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Loretta.

Lyle attended Hopedale Grade School and graduated from Olympia High School in 1939, where he was active in sports, especially basketball. He played in the high school band, playing several instruments, with emphasis on the trumpet, and won a state typing contest.

He was a lifelong farmer in the Tremont area.

He received his private pilot license and enjoyed flying his plane. He enjoyed music and ballroom dancing. He was an avid deer hunter, where he went to the upper peninsula of Michigan for 59 years in a row and won several trophies. He enjoyed traveling, where he has been to 13 different countries and drove a motor home to Alaska and back.

Lyle was a very caring person with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was of the Methodist faith and was a good Christian.

His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Tremont United Methodist Church. Pastor Dan Perry will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in Tremont.
