Margaret Penning Obituary
PEKIN - Margaret Penning, 81, of Pekin passed away at 12:44 a.m. Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin.
Born January 12, 1936, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Joseph and Adeline (Coverio) Reis, she married Jacob F. Penning on July 3, 1955, in Fall River, MA. He passed away on March 25, 2005, in Pekin.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are five daughters, Charlene (Mike) Lane of Pekin, Marge Schappaugh of Pekin, Debra Maquet of Austin, Texas, Josephine Gilchrist of Pekin and Shirley (Steven) Curry of Burleson, Texas; three sons, Jacob (Susan) Penning of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Skip (Stephani) Penning of Pekin and Glen (Shelly) Penning of Odessa, Florida; eighteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Margaret was a member of New Life Fellowship in Pekin.
She had worked at 14th St. Hardware in Pekin and later as a bus monitor for the Pekin Bus Department.
Margaret enjoyed playing gambling machines. She loved her family and cherished time spent with her grandchildren.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Mark Utech will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
