PEKIN - Mickey Louise (Clements) Vogel, 81, of Pekin passed away peacefully on June 28, 2017, at UnityPoint Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
Mickey was born July 5, 1935, in Taylorville, IL, to Sarah Isabel and Glen Hershel Clements. Mickey graduated from Manual Training High School in 1953, and in September of that year married the love of her life, Jerry Vogel. They were married until his passing in 2013. Mickey and Jerry spent the majority of their years in Peoria, with Mickey recently having moved to Pekin.
Surviving are two sons, Steven (Brenda) of Pekin and David (Sheila) of Delavan, WI. Also surviving is Mickey's sister, Lynda Franzen of Rantoul, IL. She also leaves behind her 'perfect grandchildren', Katy and Sarah Vogel of Elgin, IL; Jeremy and Joshua Vogel of Pekin; and Scott Hudson of Morton.
In addition to her husband Jerry, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann Vogel-Venardi in 2015.
Mickey was an artist (mostly self-taught) whose artwork decorated her home and the homes of others. Her favorite mediums were china painting, oils and watercolors. She also crafted porcelain dolls that she would give as gifts. Each year at Christmas she would create and personalize porcelain ornaments for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Mickey also enjoyed the time spent with her Manual classmates at their regular lunch get-togethers.
In accordance with Mickey's wishes, there will be no visitation or services. There will be a celebration of life at a future date followed by a brief graveside service.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, chaplains and staff at UnityPoint Health Methodist for their care and compassion during Mickey's hospitalization.
