PEORIA - Phyllis J. Jumer, 85, of Peoria died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at the Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton, Ill.
She was born Oct. 25, 1925, in Two Harbors, Minn., to Rudolf and Anna Marie Antonson Larsen. She married D. James Jumer on Feb. 7, 1953, in Two Harbors, Minn. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2008, in Peoria.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Phyllis is survived by three sons, Jim (Margie), Al and Karl Jumer, all of Peoria; two daughters, Sylvia (Ron) Wicks of Peoria and Anna J. Jumer of Moline, Ill.; and two grandchildren, Natalie and Jacob Wicks.
She and her husband opened the first chain of Chicken Delight restaurants in Washington, D.C. They moved to Peoria in 1959 and purchased Kramer's Restaurant. In December 1965, they announced the restaurant would be remodeled and expanded and with a hotel to be built on the site. They retained the Kramer's name until 1968 when it became Jumer's Castle Lodge.
Phyllis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was passionate about the performing arts and entertainment.
She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Peoria.
A private family Mass will be Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at St. Mark Catholic Church. The Rev. Kevin Lucas will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark Catholic Church.

We are very sad to read of Phyllis' passing. We thank her and Jim for our wonderful memories of our visits to all the Jumer hotels and restrauants. No one had or has better cinnamon rolls.
