Randy Swords Obituary
MORTON - Randy Swords, 66, of Morton, formerly of Sunnyland, passed away at 5:11 a.m. Sunday, September 16, 2018, at his home.
Randy was born on October 19, 1951, in Peoria to the late William and Doris Piotrowski Swords. He married Kathy Buzbee on May 28, 1983, in Washington.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy of Morton; daughter, Kari Swords (Jamie Dills); granddaughter, Daelyn; brothers, Marty (Jeanne) Swords of Clermont, FL, and Dennis Swords of Ocean Springs, MS; and several nieces and nephews.
Randy was a mechanic by trade and worked for many years at Sears. After retiring in 2007, he enjoyed working part-time at O'Reilly Auto Parts in East Peoria. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and watching the Bears play. He was always willing to help another person and was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa who will be missed.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Please come dressed casually or wearing your favorite Bears gear. Private inurnment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to TAPS No-Kill Shelter in Pekin.

Randy was always quick to help people who needed something. He had a lot of empathy in his heart, and that made him a good friend and neighbor. He got so much joy out of being a father, and his daughter was his most important achievement. I remember him as soft-spoken uncle who loved a good joke (and often had several of his own), and I can't remember ever hearing him raise his voice or say an angry word. He was kind, funny, reliable, and principled. Everyone who knew him will miss him terribly.

Brother Randy and I had many good times together when we were younger. Fishing, bowling, and just plain joking and laughing. He was a special soul who will be missed by many. I send my condolences to his wife Kathy and my niece Kari. He will always be in my heart. He'll be making angels smile in heaven, as he made everyone he knew smile here on earth.
