Roger Bachman

METAMORA - Roger Willis Bachman, 85, of Metamora passed away at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at the home of his daughter, Tania, in rural Washington, with his wife of 62 years, Nadine, his daughter Tania and caregiver Darlene Seckler by his side.

Roger was born Jan. 16, 1924, on the former family homestead in rural Metamora to Jesse and Elsie Patience Robinson Bachman.

He spent close to four years in the U.S. Army, serving in France during World War II, where he met his future bride, Nadine Flore Boue. They were married on March 1, 1947, in Rouen, France.

Survivors include his wife, Nadine; one son, Eric Bachman of LaVeta, Colo.; one daughter, Tania Bachman of Washington; three grandchildren, Jason (Stacy) Bachman, Annie Bachman and Taya Bachman, all of Colorado; and four great-grandchildren, Justin, Gage, Nyah and Hudson, all of Colorado. Also surviving are one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law, Maurice and Adeline Boue of Roune France; and his best friend, Dennis Parr of Metamora; plus wonderful friends and neighbors.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law and father-in-law of Rouen, France.

Roger had been a lifetime farmer in the Metamora area.

He deeply loved his family, Woodford County, traveling, his beloved pets, wildlife and Green Bay Packers football.

There will be no visitation, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Mason Funeral Home, Metamora Chapel is assisting the family in arrangements.
