Roy Graves Obituary
GROVELAND - Roy Virgil Graves, 87, of Groveland passed away at 1:43 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin.
Born March 19, 1929, in Decatur, AL, to William J. and Ollie L. (Owens) Graves, he married Raye Belle McMeans on Feb. 13, 1949, in Alcorn County, MS. She died on Jan. 10, 2015, in Peoria.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, J.B. Graves.
Surviving are one son, Roy Steven (Bonnie) Graves of Groveland; four grandchildren, Brian (Beth) Graves, Beth (David) Cooper and Amy Graves, all of Pekin, and Chad Graves of Columbia, South Carolina; and four great-grandchildren.
Roy worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1982 as a machinist.
He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Roy also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
His visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Private graveside services will be held Wednesday afternoon in Groveland Evangelical Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
