CANTON - Roy L. Wages, 90, died at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at the Heartland Health Care in Canton.
He was born on July 28, 1920, in Banner Township, Ill., to Estie and Bessie Wages.
He married Violet Hills on March 20, 1945, in Monterey. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Ed (Carol) Wages of Canton; one grandson, Kerry Miller; two brothers, Ray Wages of Canton and the Rev. Lloyd (Nelda) Wages of South Carolina; and special friends, Tim (Barb) Bishop and their children, Adam and Ladreana.
Two brothers, Frank and Lewis, preceded him in death.
Roy retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1982 and farmed throughout his lifetime.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion Post 16, the Fulton County Couples Club and the Monterey United Methodist Church, where he seldom missed a Sunday service.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Walnut Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Monterey United Methodist Church.
